How to Stick to New Year's Resolutions
New Year's resolutions are always a very popular thing. People make them every single year in hopes of changing their habits and improving life. But, how often do we actually keep our resolutions?
Some people make these resolutions because they're following the latest trend, others do it to mark a new year of their lives and then there are those who simply want to change their ways. Are these reasons enough to follow through on the promises we make?
Today, I will share some tips on how to stick with your new years resolution by exploring what the most common ones are and whether they are achievable or not. I'll also discuss some common barriers that might prevent you from achieving your goals and provide you with ways of overcoming them so that you can finally succeed! Trust me, I am no expert in sticking to promises I make to myself, but occasionally I do follow through.
Here are some tips on how to stick to your new year resolutions:
Set realistic resolutions: More often than not, New Year Resolutions are too big or too small of an issue to tackle in one year. Rather than setting unrealistic resolutions, it may be better to set smaller, more achievable goals.
Set deadlines: If you don't have any deadlines in place then your New Year Resolution will most likely fail. Set at least two deadlines - one where you'll be halfway through your resolution and another where you'll feel like you've made significant progress towards your goal.
Reset your motivation from time to time: When you feel like you are losing motivation, it's difficult to stay on track. The question is how do we hold onto the motivation to continue when things get tough? One answer to this is to find inspiration to keep on going.
Reward yourself: Reward yourself for sticking with your resolutions by celebrating each time you succeed. Rewards can be small, but they should be meaningful and have an emotional connection for you.
I really hope these tips will help you achieve your goals and dreams in the New Year. If you have some additional tips please share.
